In a world where we seem increasingly distant, where even talking to each other has become difficult, we imagined a simple scene: two musicians who do not speak, but listen to each other. They understand each other. Perhaps peace does not begin with big speeches, but with small actions. From a round of applause under a window. From playing together even if we are different. As young authors, we live in a time when reaching an agreement seems impossible – between nations, between generations, even between neighbors. But if there is something that gives us hope, it is that art – like music, like comics – can still connect.
現代において人々の関係性は希薄となり、互いに言葉を交わすことさえ難しくなっているこの世界で、私たちは一つのシンプルな光景を思い描きました。言葉を使わず、ただ互いに耳を傾ける二人の音楽家。彼らは言葉を交わすことなく、理解しあっているのです。平和は壮大なスピーチから始まるのではなく、窓辺で送られる温かな拍手のような、違いを超えて共に音を奏でるような、そんな小さな行動から生まれるのかもしれません。私たち若い芸術家は国家間、世代間、そして隣人同士ですら、合意にたどり着くのが難しく感じられる時代に生きています。それでも、もし希望があるとするならば、それは音楽や漫画のような芸術が、今もなお人と人を繋げる力を持っているということではないでしょうか。

Jazz & Manga for Peace | ジャズとマンガで平和を

The project was born from the desire to use the language of comics to bring different cultures closer together, by telling a simple yet powerful story about overcoming rivalry through mutual listening — just like in jazz. Two street musicians meet. At first, they challenge each other, study each other, avoid each other. But then, note after note, they discover they can create something greater together. That’s how their shared improvisation is born. That’s how peace is born.
このプロジェクトは、漫画という言語を使って異なる文化をつなぎたいという思いから生まれました。 それは、互いに耳を傾けることで対立を乗り越えるという、シンプルで力強い物語を語ることによって実現されます。 まるでジャズのように。 2人のストリートミュージシャンが出会います。 最初は、互いに挑み合い、観察し合い、避け合います。 しかしやがて、音を重ねるうちに、2人は一緒にもっと大きなものを生み出せることに気づきます。 こうして、彼らの共通の即興演奏が始まります。 こうして、平和が生まれるのです。
A comic story illustrated by Shogo Ida (20 years old, student at the Tohoku University of Art & Design, Japan), based on the storyboard and script by Denis Matera (25 years old, trained at the International Manga School in Lucca), with artistic supervision by Alberto Della Libera (21 years old, painter and illustrator from Friuli, student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence).
この漫画作品は、井田翔吾（20歳、東北芸術工科大学の学生、⽇本）が作画を担当し、Denis Matera（25歳、ルッカの国際マンガ学校出身）**によるストーリーボードと脚本に基づいており、Alberto Della Libera（21歳、フリウリ出身の画家・イラストレーター、フィレンツェ美術アカデミーの学生）**がアート監修を務めました。
The book is the fourth edition of Quaderni Jazz, a series curated by Circolo Controtempo that brings together short jazz-inspired stories and original illustrations, accompanied by suggested listening tracks. The volume was presented during Il volo del Jazz, the festival organized by Circolo Controtempo.
本書は『Quaderni Jazz』の第4版であり、Circolo Controtempoが監修するシリーズです。このシリーズでは、ジャズにインスパイアされた短編ストーリーとオリジナルのイラストが集められ、推奨される聴取用トラックも添えられています。本書は、Circolo Controtempoが主催するフェスティバル「Il volo del Jazz」で発表されました。
