TILT is a concert for flute and orchestra where everything is the result of extemporaneousness and improvisation. The "conduction" technique will mainly be used, which consists of providing the performers with the commands, which will then evolve the musical flow, through gestures made with the hands and, sometimes, with the whole body of the director, which then becomes a sort of "human score". Giovanni Maier has developed a vocabulary of signs / gestures that serve to communicate to the interpreters in which musical fields they must improvise and how to modulate the various parameters that make up the musical figures; Massimo De Mattia will talk in real time with this substrate prepared instantly, modifying his choices based on the stimuli provided by the orchestral accompaniment. The role of Luigi Vitale's vibraphone and marimba will be placed in an intermediate stage, sometimes rising to the role of soloist and sometimes reinforcing the "orchestra" ranks.
The concert will be recorded by sound engineer Stefano Amerio to be published on a CD that will be produced by the record label Artesuono. This project, artistically shared by Giovanni Maier and Massimo De Mattia, is a co-production of the Circolo Controtempo and the “G. Tartini ”of Trieste.
