About Us

The most popular notes of the greatest contemporary international jazz artists resonate in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, between the vineyards and the Collio cellars, among castles, squares, and historical buildings of small jewel cities, up to the Slovenian borders, for a magical combination of music, places to five-star food, wine and places.

The Circolo Controtempo of Cormòns (GO), in line with tradition, proposes a calendar of widespread events starring an idea of jazz “without borders”, with concerts in national or European premiere of established artists and emerging talents, direct national television, tourists and music lovers who come from all over Europe. More projects that combine the spectacular performance with an all-round touristic and cultural offer in one of the most beautiful landscapes in Italy.

JAZZ & WINE OF PEACE (October, Cormòns – GO)
With a history of over 80,000 people and 80 international artists, the Jazz & Wine of Peace festival is the heart of the programming of Circolo Controtempo, thanks to an original formula of strong impact: for 20 years the event has focused on the concept of “border” (geographical, between Italy and Slovenia, and … of the soul) making it an element of union of different typicalities, breathtaking landscapes to rediscover and friendship among the peoples in the name of music and peace (a toast with the fabulous local wines is a must at the end of each concert), in a territory marked in the past by wars.

The town of Cormòns, the Collio, the landscapes of the Carso are dressed in sound and attract thousands of tourists from Italy, Austria, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, who invade the territory ready to immerse themselves in an all-round sensory experience.

Yes, because in addition to music there are many side events for those staying in the territory during the Jazz & Wine of Peace: meetings with artists, cycling and historical-architectural routes through landscapes, vineyards and wineries of Collio, small concerts-aperitif and midnight round disseminated in the clubs and squares of the countries, projections, photo workshops and much more. A vast offer that also translates into a positive impact on the economy of the whole territory.

Charles Lloyd, Enrico Rava, Richard Galliano, Jack DeJohnette, Gary Peacock, Michel Portal, Archie Shepp, John Scofield, Stefano Bollani, William Parker, are just some of the great guests who have taken part in Jazz & Wine of Peace over the years.

VOLO DEL JAZZ (October, November, Sacile – PN)
Sacile, the little Venice, a border town between Veneto and Friuli, is home to the now traditional “Volo del Jazz” festival. A window on European jazz in which the concept of border is identified with that of contamination: literature, jazz with international guests and new promises, cinema and illustration intersect on the scene. A flight that ranges in all directions artistic and sensory, which wants to embrace those who listen and leaves no one outside.

The Sacile stage has hosted artists who are part of the history of jazz along with emerging talents who have become protagonists of the contemporary jazz scene. Among the names, Esbjörn Svensson Trio, Hiromi Uheara, Esperanza Spalding, Youn Sun Nah, Dee Dee Bridgewater.

PIANO JAZZ (April – May, Sacile and Pordenone) is the exhibition born to explore all the nuances that can be achieved with the 88 keys: concerts entrusted to big names on the national and international scene give life to an itinerant “Jazz Piano“, with the aim to recreate the intimate atmosphere of the jazz club in unconventional venues, in a fusion between musical excellence and entrepreneurial excellences of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

LE NUOVE ROTTE DEL JAZZ (June, Trieste), Trieste, a university town on the border offers students a free entry program, to encourage the participation of young students in organized events. The exhibition is hosted by the Revoltella Museum of Trieste, which opens the space of the Autorium to the originality of a program organized within the Museum. Projects of extraordinary originality, which “look ahead” and look for a young, curious public, particularly accustomed to the sound experiments of jazz and free from prejudices against any kind of listening.

“New” music, in the path of innovation and experimentation with artistic preference aimed at young artists with new projects to be disseminated. Concerts that are flanked by multidisciplinary proposals and collaborations aimed at creating a dense network in the territory.

The true protagonist of our festivals, lives an experience of territorial and musical knowledge unique in its kind, where cultural and musical tourism are founded in a single proposal.

See you there!
