From 15 September 2021 until 19 December 2021
A journey into American history and that of jazz between love for music and struggles against racism to discover one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century.
In 2022 we will celebrate the centenary of the birth of Charles Mingus, a brilliant and tormented composer and jazz double bass player, but also a lyricist, writer and poet. This exhibition tells the story of his times, life and music starting from the comic written by Flavio Massarutto and drawn by Pasquale Todisco “Squaz”, published by Coconino Press.
Through a path full of suggestions, the visitor will have the opportunity to admire over fifty print reproductions and original comic strips, and also to benefit from the in-depth analysis and selected listenings and visions.
The exhibition was created with the collaboration of Circolo Controtempo as part of the Il Volo del Jazz review.
