GIOVANNI GUIDI “Drive!”

GIOVANNI GUIDI "Drive!"

Giovanni Guidi (IT): fender rhodes
Joe Rehmer (USA): double bass, electric bass
Federico Scettri (IT): battery

New musical adventure for Giovanni Guidi, who sets aside the acoustic instrument to distill sounds from the Fender Rhodes. Accompanying the thirty-year-old pianist from Foligno are the chicagoan bass player (but resident in Italy) Joe Rehmer and the Roman drummer Federico Scettri. If Giovanni Guidi is no longer a promise, but a splendid reality on the international jazz scene, even his two partners are no less than this: Joe Rehmer has made himself overpowering alongside musicians like Gianluca Petrella, Fabrizio Sferra and Dan Kinzelman, while Federico Scepters has collaborations with Paolo Fresu, William Parker and Francesco Bearzatti, among others.

We are facing an exceptionally convincing and motivated group. The music leaves a lot of room for improvisation and the three interact telepathically by offering a compelling, personal, adventurous and iconoclastic musical aesthetics. On June 1st the first CD of the group will be released for the Auand Records label.
